Our
environmental commitments are taken seriously
Firstly some of the services we provide are available at a reduced VAT rate.
This is because draft-sealing windows is recognised as a method of insulating
your property thus reducing the amount of energy required to keep your home
warm.
Secondly 90% of the materials used in our traditional windows and doors are bio
degradable, unlike the modern uPVC windows and doors.
Do you remember the advert slogan “You only fit double glazing once, so fit the
best...” well they are now replacing those windows not 20 years on.
Sash windows have been proven with time. “They last centuries” So in our calculations
sash windows last on average 8 times longer than uPVC replacements.
That’s what we call helping the environment
and your bank balance.
All of the windows we replace are used to their full potential, whether this
means using the wood from the old windows to heat our workshop furnace, the
glass being sent to for recycling. Or some of the traditional types of glass if
in good condition may be reused in a Grade I renovation.
All of the materials required for your job are carefully assessed making sure
that the optimum amount of materials comes with our carpenters and other
craftsmen when they first attend a job. This reduces the driving around,
burning fuels wasting time and energy.
We also have our own site supply vehicle keeping our jobs moving dropping off
and collecting at the same time. We also pay for our staff’s fuel enabling us
to control the amount of staff in our vehicles and arranging for them to
collect each other in the mornings and dropping off in the evenings.
All of our timber comes from sustainable sources approved by the FSC.
Double glazed services we offer are as follows:
• Install new double glazed sashes into the existing box frames
• Remove uPVC windows from the existing frames to reinstate the timber sashes
• Construct complete box sash windows
• Construct new French doors to include altering openings if required
• Construct complete casement windows
